V.I.P. Afterschool Program
Studies show a decline in the number of unsupervised children post-school hours. However, the number of elementary school students without supervision has slightly increased. To address this issue in Plainfield, VIP After-school is currently available at Cedarbrook K-8 Center, Clinton Elementary School, and Washington Community School, with future plans to expand to other schools.
Our program provides comprehensive support to students from kindergarten to grade 8. Alongside academic tutoring, we offer enrichment programs and recreational activities. We encourage parental involvement and conduct family nights, workshops, and culminating events to showcase students’ achievements throughout the academic year.
Our affordability and financial assistance programs distinguish us from our competitors. Our rates are highly competitive in the Plainfield area, and we also accept Community Coordinated Child Care vouchers, making us accessible to a broader range of families.
Our afterschool centers operate from Monday to Friday, immediately following school hours, for a minimum of three hours each day. On half-days, we extend our hours accordingly. The regular program runs from September to June, aligning with the school year calendar, while our summer program operates from July to August.
We are proudly funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program.
What is the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program (21st CCLC)?
Under Title IV, Part B of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) program aims to award funding to centers like ours who provide academic enrichment opportunities for students. This includes tutorial services to help students meet challenging state academic standards. In addition, these centers offer a variety of services, programs, and activities that promote youth development, such as nutrition and health education, drug, and violence prevention, counseling, arts, music, physical fitness, and wellness education, technology education, financial literacy, environmental literacy, mathematics, science, career, and technical programs. These programs are designed to complement the regular academic program of participating students and their adult family members during non-school hours.

Grace's Kitchen
Our afterschool program offers snacks and meals to all students. Additionally, we serve monthly meals to the wider Plainfield community during the last five days of each month. Our soup kitchen currently serves an average of 300-600 meals per month.
Our goal is to expand our food program by providing additional pantry items and meals to families in need. We also strive to create gardens and educate the youth on healthy food choices as part of our mission.
Adult Language Learning Center
Our organization provides Spanish and English language classes tailored toward adults seeking to acquire a secondary language. These weekly evening sessions are entirely free of charge! For more information, feel free to email adultlearning@pconj.org or Click to Register.
